Volunteers
The Volunteers page lists the people who help at your shelter, with a profile for each and tools to add many at once.

View your volunteers and fosters, open a profile to see their activity and any restrictions, and add many at once with a CSV import.

Find a volunteer
Use the search box to find someone by name, then click their row to open their profile. The profile shows contact details, any restrictions (safety flags), and their shift and activity history.
Import volunteers from a spreadsheet
If you're onboarding a group of volunteers, you don't have to add them one by one:
- Go to Imports and start a new import.
- Choose the volunteers template and upload your CSV.
- Confirm the PII acknowledgement (you're importing personal data) and finish the wizard.
- Back here, the new volunteers appear in the list. Trigger a password reset for each when they're ready to log in.
Fields explained

| Status | Whether the volunteer is active or restricted. Accounts are restricted, never deleted, so they can be reinstated. |
A note on restrictions
ShelterSync never deletes a volunteer. If someone should stop having access, they are restricted (with a reason) rather than removed — so their history stays intact and they can be reinstated later.
